I note the use of a Panasonic TU-DSB31 on a number of entries.

The box is certainly better than many other with a weak signal.

Nonsense. I have friends who get FTA via satellite in both Ibiza and Malaga. Needs a big dish mind and the issue there might be getting a licence to have the dish. That will depend on the local Ajuntament and whether the building or area is subject to heritage rules etc.

Ah. The dish might be a problem there.

If Eastenders is so important to their holiday pleasure why bother going all the way to Spain? They could save themselves money by taking the caravan to Skegness instead. They'd also be able to get no end of fish and chips, PG Tips, soggy white bread and all the rest. I'm sure they'll not notice the weather when their busy watching Cash in the Attic.

Hi Desmond, I came across this at the begining of last week looking for a replacement for a company called live uktv, they streamed uk TV over the internet and have now closed. I have been searching for a repalcement, this is the bit that might be of interest to you all. I have found the replacement and amusingly its called TV ABROAD which drew me to this post, they provide single password protected viewing of all uk programming including Sky+. I don't fully understand all the tech jargon but I know they use Sling Technolgy to put one's own either Freeview or Sky+ tv onto the internet with sole acess to yourself where ever you are with a broadband connection. I Travel all over and was desperate to get reconnected, better viewing quality than before wish I'd found them previously and perhaps I wouldn't have lost what I've lost. Any way I'm wittering, for anyone that's serious about viewing UK TV or UK Sky+ then I would suggest visiting their site www.uktv2c.com and have a gander. 4 days I've had it now and its great. I'd be interested in any comments, if you'd like more detail of my experience you can always ask for my email address. Ciao

Mmmm I can see where you are coming from but if you are outside the Astra footprint and you want Quality UK TV then really I think It's well worth the cost. At the end of the day it's no more expensive than me buying a satellite dish having it installed and buying a Sky+ box. Any way suits me. Unless you're saying I've missed a cheaper option in my haste, perhaps if that's the case you would pass on the details to me. Regards

Well I have no need for any of the solutions, so honestly I can't comment on quality, hopefully someone may come along with knowledge from experience, but from a quick google.. the slingbox solo would appear to fit the bill, and it appears that once you have bought from them, there is no monthly fee.

Am I mistaken in thinking that you don't have a freeview or sky setup in the UK ?
The slingbox re-transmits an existing setup, but from what I can gather from the UKTV2C site, the channels are included, even so, at 60/month, even with the cheapest sky package at 21.50/month on top, thats a hell of a lot of money a month to watch repeats

I do have a slingbox classic box because I only need 1 connect to sky plus box to watch sky world tv over my pc or laptop. Picture and sound quality is superb. So fars, no problem. Software is great and work with XP SP3 and Vista Ultimate 64Bits. A bonus, no fee or monthly fee. But, I think it can eat up broadband usage (not sure if slingbox using upload or download streaming ?) My isp is unlimited upload but only get 30GB of download per month.

Hi everyone, yeah I had looked at doing that myself however I couldnt guarantee the quality of the online UK TV, because of the sharing aspect of the connection at my home area. This way these guys provide a proffessional solution for the same problem. They provide a 1-1 contention connection bandwidth inlimited which allows me to download a t speeds of upto 2000kbps providing absolutley fantastic picture and sound, got it on a 50" Plasma now with cinema surround. It also means that I'm not having people to go to my home in the UK to tweek this or that or to reboot the box which may happen in the future. I think that all in all when I consider that 60.00 a month pays for broadband upload,download(unlimited),24hr tech support, power and heat controlled environment replacement of faulty equipment etc I am not on to a bad thing. It's my choice to go for Sky and the extra costs, alot of people would do well with just the live streaming Freeview on line. The company is called TV Abroad and you will find them at www.uktv2c.com have a look and make your own minds up.
