Zone Alarm and VSMon.exe

[link to this post]

I use Zone Alarm (free version) but it suffers from the process vsmon being very CPU hungry - it frequently take up 50% of the CPU. From googling it, it seems that this is common.

Can anyone recommend a good free firewall to replace ZA?

I ditched ZAPro for this

working quite happily on default settings.

I don't even bother with one anymore. Windows' firewall plus my routers one is enough. Only really use one with vpn.

Thanks Wingco - I will give that one a try.

Are you using the free or subscription version?

Apparently it's the same download After the 30 days you just register the free version. I haven't got there yet myself yet. If you have any probs "Pipexer" was part of the beta testing and is quite happy to help with any questions.
