IE8, 100% CPU and restricted Sites

[link to this post]

You may find, after installing IE8, apps taking too much CPU with IE8 in particular taking 100%.

The final IE8 doesn't like lots of restricted sites entries.

If you have added entries using software like spybot s&d or ie-spyad you may need to remove the entries to get a working machine.

I used ZonedOut to clear out mine.

No issues here and I'm using Spybot with a full hosts file compiled by it

No problems here either, except when I last ran Ad-Aware (Free Version) and it claimed that there was a problem with the home page setting on IE8, and promptly changed it to http:/// ! crazy Changing the home page back to about:blank stopped all the "Page Not Found" errors. Seems to me that all this freebie software actually causes more problems than it ever cures ! mad

restricted sites is not your host file: Internet Explorer - internet options - security

that's ok - you obviously had never clicked on immunise in spybot s&d and loaded entries into your restricted sites list - I had 67000 entries which the IE8 betas were happy with but not IE8 final.

I just double checked and the list of 109000+ sites are indeed there, and I still have no problems wink

No problems here either with a huge list of restricted sites from SpyBot
Have cleared entries from hosts file however
