"Windows Easy Transfer" crashing ?

[link to this post]

I've been trying to use Windows Easy Transfer to transfer some stuff from my Windows XP installation to the trial version of Windows 7 (64 bit version). When I run Windows Easy Transfer on the XP machine, it collects the information in personal and shared items OK. However, the problem is that there appears to be an awful lot of shared items in "Other", and when I go to a detailed view, the program crashes. Any ideas ?

I'm sure you know, but I find best practice on anything past vista is to split your hard drive (or have 2 hard drives) and move the desktop, documents, downloads, music, video etc folders to the D: drive. Then next time you want to reinstall you can just copypaste the appdata folder to D:, wipe C; and reinstall.
