Yes! I had never used IE8 before wednesday last week. Due to some other issues i reinstalled windows xp on my old pc which i use as a server now. Anyway instead of installing firefox for some reason i decided to try out IE8 on it once xp was reinstalled. Bad mistake IE8 made it soo slow infact youtube vids made the entire pc lagg and stutter. This is a very old pc tho (2500 amd barton 1.83ghz). It only happened while IE8 was running tho its still on that pc now i just dont use it and am back to firefox.

Try firefox alot better.

I haven't noticed it slow the computer down but it takes an age to open tabs. I'm currently giving FireFox another try. I have to admit that it feels quite a bit snappier.

Yes, was very slow until I removed Spybot and removed all the restricted zones

Sounds good!! Remove your extra security measures to get it to run at a sensible speed!!!

Not extra, but un-necessary. The delay is caused by Spybot adding thousands of restricted zones, which IE8 has to load before it can move on.

Fair point, but if the delay wasn't there in IE7 why should it be there in IE8?

Because IE8 has its own protection mechanisms.
