Homegroup Connection Problems

Having problems trying to connect!

Have one PC with Win-7 (64bit) which seems to be working, but my 2nd (Win-7, 32 bit), when I try to connect, keeps telling me that it needs IPv6 enabled. When I check for IPv6, I'm told its working!!

But it still won't let me connect to Homegroup!!

Have tried their suggestions but it didn't solve the problem.

For some reason, under IPv6 (on the 32bit PC), it is telling me that I do not have Network Connectivity - although I do under IPv4!!

Does the router support IPv6?
Do you have a software or windows firewall running? If so this microsoft doc may help with what you need to allow through.

Thanks for that! I'll go through that & see what I can achieve.

Just to answer your specific questions:-

The HomeGroup was created by our 64-bit PC & this PC does seem to have any IPv6 Network issues (hence, I'm assuming the Router is OK). It is simply the 32-bit machine that is refusing to connect with IPv6!!

Have McAfee on 32-bit, just Windows Firewall on 64-bit.

EDIT:-
Have tried it with BOTH Firewalls disabled - no change!

btw the Router is a Netgear DG834PN.

After a quick google, I can't establish if the DG834PN can handle IPv6. Not sure if it's important but the MS doc suggests IPv6 is needed for homegroups.

Have McAfee on 32-bit, just Windows Firewall on 64-bit.

Windows firewall should create the necessary allow rules for homegroup, not so confident about McAfee though. May not be sufficient just to disable McAfee, my need to re-boot with is disabled.
Have you checked you don't have two firewall's running on the 32 bit machine, windows firewall and McAfee's firewall.
