Is it possible

To make a Word doc non editable, if so how do I do it in Word 2003. I want to send via email yet make it so that the recipient can't alter it.

I use Office 2007 and in that you click on the office button, point to prepare, then encrypt document so that a password is required to edit it.

You can do the same in 2003 but I can't remember how! Go to Help and put in 'password protect' and see what comes up?

Put a read-only password on it.

Go to Save As / Tools / Security Options. Set a password in the Password to Modify box.

Hope that's what you're wanting.

Tony

If the document doesn't have to be a Word document then use an online PDF creator and send the PDF. Should be a lot smaller as well.

Was Eclipse Home Option 1 & VM 2Mb
Now O2 standard

You can also use a program cutePDF - download this from the web and install on your machine. It acts as a print driver, when you've finished the doc you go to print, select cutepdf and then it gives you an option to save the file

A lot more user-friendly too. Just about any computer, whatever the OS, will have a PDF reader available.
