BBC embeded video not working

I've started having a problem with BBC embedded videos not working on my Vista PC - they just sit there with the circle of dots going round and round and the video never gets as far as showing the controls along the bottom.

It is only embedded BBC ones that I've found so far, videos on the iPlayer pages work fine, as do embedded videos elsewhere - not found any others that don't work.

It doesn't seem to be ISP related - they work fine on my wife's XP laptop on the same connection.

I've tried turning off the firewall (AVG Internet Security) & that doesn't make any difference. It is also the same firewall as on the laptop. I had a look at the firewall settings & didn't spot anything that might obviously be the cause.

I uninstalled & reinstalled Flash (as well as uninstalling other Adobe software) - still nothing.

Has anyone got any suggestions as to where to go/what to look for from here?

Do you use a Hosts file to block adverts / bad sites?
If so try restoring the default Hosts file.

If that's not the answer, try: go to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/f...
Click on "Global Storage Settings panel" and ensure there's a tick in the following two items.
"Allow third-party Flash content to store data on your computer"
and "Store common Flash components to reduce download times"

Many thanks - the ""Allow third-party Flash content to store data on your computer"" setting was unticked. so I ticked it & they now work once more. laugh

There is a bit of background to Flash's
bizarre way in which Adobe allows them to configure the software

Thanks for the tip - it found 390 flash cookies and most of them were from sites where I had supposedly blocked cookies
