start icon changed

I have noticed that the start icon on my laptop ( windows 7) changed to something like win xp icon for unknown reason. I tried to get it back without success!! Any ideas how to do it ? and why did it change. I turned it off and back on, but it did not make any diffrence.

Try selecting a different theme.

Classic Start Menu or not?

I just want to restore the default ORB. The current ORB is similair to the win xp ver. As I did not want to change the default ver . I know it is not a big deal and it is not important how it looks, but the fact that it changed without my knowledge or wish irritates me.

If you had provided a screenshot, I/we might have been able to give some better advice, but seeing as all I've got is "start icon changed to something like Windows XP" try these things:

-Right click desktop > Personalize > select default Windows 7 theme.
-Start > Right click computer > Properties > Windows Experience Index > Re-run the assessmenet
-Start > right click computer > Manage > Services and Applications > Services > Ensure "Themes" is Started and set up StartupType: Automatic
-Start > Right click computer > Properties > advanced system settings > Performance (settings button) > Ensure everything ticked.
-Ensure 32bit colour selected


Something must have changed it.... Can you think of any programs which might have attempted to do this etc?

Hi, after the latest windows updates (10(, the default win 7 ORB has been restored!!

I have no idea why it was changed in the first place. So problem sorted.
