That is simply over-specified. They say: "8.5 GB/hour (up to 19 Megabits/second)" for HD encoding. Even an ATA100 drive can handle that.

eta: The doc dates from 2005, it pre-dates fast SATA drives. SATA was at Rev1 back then and it was not as prevalent as it is today.

Thanks for replies. I'm sure I've done it before, so when my 98 windows updates have installed thats the way I'll go.
