Anyone using Acronis True Image 2012 yet?

Has anyone tried the latest Acronis software yet?

Acronis True Image 2012 Linky.


Any improvement on 2011 one? Would be good to see Acronis getting back up to their excellent standard, especially since their slightly disappointing TI-2011 software?

i got no problem with the 2011 version, it does what it is suppose to do

I'm sticking with True Image 2010 Home as I see no point in shelling out more cash for updating a program because a newer version is out.

Maybe you should have a look at postings by unhappy folk with this version.

Not me. I bought 2011 earlier this year and apparently I have to pay for 2012. In any case I'm not sure I want to risk it. I know that TI2011 works because I've gone through a full disaster recovery scenario including resizing a disk. Unfortunately I've also seen a few crashes and got fed up waiting for the damn' UI. I think I'd rather leave well enough alone for now.

Oh but here are some rough timings to show how badly the UI performs:
* Starting TI and getting to the point where it will show available restores - about two minutes.
* Booting off the rescue disk and getting to the point where it actually starts writing to the disk - fifteen minutes.

I've no idea why it's so damn slow. I'm running it on a 1.6GHz Atom but still - it shouldn't be that clunky. Especially the recovery console.

Perhaps if TI2012 has definite reports of a faster UI and fewer bugs I might be interested but that's not the impression I've had so far. The report I read suggested it was just the addition of features I don't want and the usual bugs :-/

The best I can say for ATI is that I know it works. Beyond that I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If Windows backup had the ability to delete backups over a certain age I'd have stuck with that.

Although if you want to see a crash just try manually deleting some old backups. The first one corrupts the display and the second crashes it. Every time. Then I have to wait another couple of minutes before I can try again.

Got my card refunded for that one - it wasn't as good any of the earlier ones [ one of which, I am still use on my PC.

I love[d] their previous flavours, and it was consistently faster and sweeter.
2011 was the only [disappointing exemption to this rule.

May very well update to 2012 but there is absolutely no need for that to occur soon. [smile]

I pretty much only use the recovery CD, and image machines to my NAS, and restore from the NAS to new drives. I also bought Disk Director 11, which does the resizing and other clever stuff of partitions.

I upgraded to TI Home 2011 because the boot disc from TI Home 2009 wouldn't recognise the new motherboard / disk controller chipset in my Core i7 desktop.

I swear by Acronis True Image 10 & Partition Magic, and would also recommend that to all.

Don't know if they will/would work with Windows 8, but never mind. I use my smashing MacBook Pro [early 2011].
