Hotmail POP3 problems - Outlook Express.

Been getting the following error from Outlook Express in XP SP3.

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'John @ Hotmail', Server: 'pop3.live.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Been fine til today have two accounts and both get the same error.

I noticed a windows update that effected some secure services is this related or just server problems? Anyone else?

OK apparently removing KB2585542 fixes it. Anyone seen a workaround for having this installed?

and as if by magic removing and re-installing the update cures it. Must have been a Hotmail server problem. :|

Yes I could no longer sign in on my windows Live! (hotmail) account and after trying everything I restored the PC to what I had prior to KB2585542 and as soon as I restarted the PC the problem was solved
I run on Win 7 64 bit and have IE 9
