Deleting dual boot

Having updated elderly niegbours computer to XP Pro sp3, when it boots ist still shows the previous
XP HP1 as a boot option, even though it no longer points to anything.
While it does default to the XP Pro, the extra screen and 25 sec delay is anoying.

Booting it to Windows repair console I tried various commands:
bootcfg, fixboot, fixmbr etc. but I can't get rid of that dual boot screen or the old XP HP option.

How do I delete the dual boot option and screen ?

start - type msconfig - enter - boot and you can delete in here.

Edit c:/boot.ini to reflect the correct setup.
