Hello XRaySpex",

When I type what You suggested into the `Search Programs and Files` Box and I Allow this - a Black Box Displays for not even half a second - probably much less time - making it impossible to View / Read.

Is there a process of how to View what I am guessing MAY have been Saved somewhere on My Computer ?

Regards,

Chris

The Command Prompt program is very important for diagnosing Windows; you should get to know it.

Either look in your Start Programs menu for 'Command Prompt' or type
cmd
in the Start Run box.

EDIT: Search is a very clumsy and error prone way of finding programs.

You don't need to keep giving salutations grin; keep it to the point.

"Hello",

I like to be Polite - although I can only Type with ONE Finger and it would be quicker / easier to NOT say Hello and use the persons User Name - I like to be Polite in addressing People who are taking time to Help Me - I know that You are trying to be helpful in saving Me time etc. and I appreciate your comment - Thanks.

When I referred to the Search Programs and Files Box - I believe that this is what You mean when you write the `Start Run Box` - in that Box - which I did not know the correct Name for - what I wrote is temporarily displayed until You Start to Type into it - that is why I wrote those words as to describe the Box that is accessed by clicking onto the Start Button.

I THINK that this is the Box that You mean.

In My `All Programs` Menu - Command Prompt is not showing.

I would really like to know more about what You suggested regarding Command Prompt and I will research this - BUT could You guide Me regarding seeing what You suggested here re. what I typed into the Start Run Box ?

I WAS Finding Command Prompt - and clicking to Open it - at that point the Black Box Flashed onto the Screen - there was NO WAy to be able to Read it - Has it been Saved somewhere ?

Regards,

Chris

Yes. Type ipconfig /all.

Please do not write as if these were letters, Your language is sufficient to show you are polite.

Sorry to jump in, Chrismur, follow this instructions to get to where XRaySpex is asking!

1.Click the Start button and in the box that appears at the bottom type cmd
2.A black icon and cmd will appear right click it and then choose Run as administrator, the user accounts control will ask for permission, click Yes, the command prompt window will display ( white letters on a black background)
3.Where it says c:\windows\system32>type on the flashing cursor the following; ipconfig /all
Dont forget there is a space between the g and the forward slash/
4. Press Enter
5.All the network configuration will be displayed, which is what XRaySpex is asking you to do twice, once when you start the pc with the router connected and once when you start the pc with the router disconnected, to see if there is any difference on the statistics!
6. You can maximise the command prompt window to read it better.
7. When finished, close the window by clicking on the X at the top right hand corner as with all windows.
8. You can expect to see something similar to this;

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Windows\system32>ipconfig /all

Windows IP Configuration

Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Name-PC
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : lan
Plus a lot more statistics than what I have shown here!
Hope this helps to get to the information requested by XRaySpex

Thank You very much for the detailed Instructions - really appreciated.

However this Cannot be carried out with Starting the Computer with the Router Connected and Turned On - that is when the Problem exists - The Computer does NOT Start Up and then is completely Unresponsive.

Turning Off the Router does NOT [Surprisingly to Me] then allow the Computer to complete the Start Up process - I would have thought that it would have but No - I then have to Power Off the Computer - NOT something that I want to keep doing.

Thanks for your help.
