Ta!

Plus copying contents and pasting here by:

Right Click somewhere in the the text and Mark
Highlight the output from ipconfig and hit <Return>
Come here and write your reply post
Hit <CTRL>C to paste those results where you want them.

Thanks - Mark etc. did not work - I had altready tried Copy & Paste - somehow after Clicking onto both Copy and Mark - then coming back here and Pasting I managed to get the Results on here [?]:

I HOPE THAT SOMETHING SHOWS THAT COULD BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM ? [ This in Capitals is to show that it is NOT part of the Results] - Please don`t take this as an Insult - as a Novice I am TRYING to do things correctly.

Chris,

Sorry I must have misunderstood you when said: "I cannot quite understand why the Internet Access / Router Accessing would Stop the Computer from being used - including not even being able to Restart or Shut Down?"

looks like you are doing some really advanced diagnostics now - best of luck smile

Chris,
I'm not remotely qualified in being able to help with your pc problem, I'm just helping with the basics of how to get the information rquested and how to copy and paste it here in the forum.
To copy the command prompt screen;
1. First open note pad
2. Go to the command prompt screen and right click in it
3. Click select all on the menu that appears
4. Go to Note pad and right click in it
5. Click paste
6. Name and save the text document in a folder you will remember.
You may be asked by XRaySpex to copy the details and post to see it. Which you can then do by copy and paste.
Good luck.

Does the pc boot with the adapter disabled and the router powered on? Better to do tests by shutting down and restarting the pc than powering off the router too frequently smile

"Hello scopio",

Thanks for the Information - I will try this to learn the process Correctly.-

I did manage to Copy and Paste the Results om here - BUT only after a combination of `Mark` - `Copy` etc. - basically process `Unknown` !

But You might have been writing your Post when I managed to Post the Results of the Diagnostics on here.

Thanks again,

Chris

Um! That all looks good!

Need to see same when PC can't connect but we can't cuz PC frozen. frown

Does problem also occur when PC started with router ON, but router disconned from phone socket?

Does problem also occur when PC started in Safe Mode with Networking (press F8 repeatedly during initial boot when you have a blank screen) with router ON?

Look in the router's Web interface for its DHCP section. What does it say?

When problem occurs, do you have another PC to look at router's Web interface for a section like Local Network or Connected Devices that shows what devices are connected to router and their IP addys?

I'm clutching at straws LOL!

"Hello",

I will try this Tomorrow [Now 01:33 Hrs] - I don`t turn off the Power TO the Router I just Turn it Off by using the Power Button - is that the same thing ?

What worries Me more is that I am having to Power Off the Computer Too Often - I.E. EVERY Time that I try something that does not work - obviously I know that this has to be done - BUT unlike many People who are Commputer Literate I would NOT be able to `Repair` anything that was any more complicated than `Restore to previously known Good Configuration` !

I will probably not be able to Post the Result on here until Tomorrow Evening.

Thanks again.

Having said I'm not remotely qualified to help with your pc/router problem, has it been suggested to try and connect the router to another pc/laptop running Windows 7, as your pc is, and see if the problem manifests itself in another pc?

Just a suggestion to eliminate if it is a pc or router fault!
