In this instance it has nothing to do with criticism of 8 as such. It is just that 8 is new, not supported by Apple in bootcamp and users are reporting no end of issues with Bootcamp and 8 when booted bare metal or in VM. Pure VMs appear to be working fine, but then they miss out on all the huge advantages of a Bootcamp based VM. The exact same things happened with Vista and with 7. They will happen with 9 too. Years in advance, I can today offer you a 100%, copper bottomed guarantee it will be a headache to install Windows 9 in this sort of situation for months after its release.
Eventually, the bugs of this sort of install will get resolved and it will all work fine, but it really isn't worth fighting it in the first instance. All you'll do is waste days of your life and get frustrated going round and round in ever decreasing circles only to eventually accept that you made a mistake by trying to upgrade before all the parties involved worked out all the bugs.
