Having bitten the bullet and bought Win 8 Pro download at the princely sum of £25 I'm starting to like it. I've even got some software from 1998 (Wordperfect 10) to run successfully on it and downloaded a free Start Menu.
Microsoft dont make it easy to dual boot as your not allowed to download the ISO in Win XP only Win 7 or 8 so I had to google and find out how to make an ISO from the download ESD directories.
Now that I have a dual XP and Win 8 system (keeping XP because there is no driver for my ancient HP scanner) I have found on the new Win 8 partition a folder called Windows.old. I have tried to delete it but it says I need permission from "System" in Win 8 or "Access Denied" in Win XP.
Can I get rid of this presumably superfluous folder and if so, how?
