windows live mail problems

I seem to have intermittent problems/errors on accessing windows live mail(pop3) on my laptop( windows8).I want to create imap mail account via mail account which came with win 8.Is it possible to keep both accounts concurrently ( running at the same time). I intend to abandon the pop3 accounts and keep the imap one.

POP3 & IMAP are different access methods for reading the same mailbox on a mail server.

In WLM set the POP3 a/c to always Leave a Copy on the Server. Then the same a/c can be used as IMAP from the Win8 mail program.
