.docx isn't propitiatory as such anymore....

I have tried LibreOffice and OpenOffice and they are absolutely dreadful compared to Microsoft Office, in my opinion. Even my neighbor who is almost 70 kicked up a fuss when I put openoffice on his computer because he didn't want to pay for Microsoft Office - he ended up buying it.

I think the current pricing model for Office for home is a little high perhaps, but if you aren't using the program heavily you can always use cloud based Office which is free to anyone with a windows live account.

Also, Office for Windows phone is free and blows apple and android equivalent out of the water.

Microsoft are just a bit late in the game with some of this, this is the main problem.

Have to disagree there - Office is all smoke and mirrors, plus its not free. The online version has one flaw : It needs the internet...

Yes - I suppose if you can afford the tablet, free products would be the last thing you would think about...
