Win Mail on W8 advice sought.

I have Windows Mail up and running on W8 laptop. All is working correctly. One minor annoying thing is when I click on an email link on a web page, W8 opens the Google Mail app by default.

Can I disable this, or point it towards Windows Mail?

Control panel, default programs, set your default program, Windows Live mail,
Set this as default program (near bottom)

Thanks for your reply David. Unfortunately I have Windows Mail (Vista) version. This doesn't appear in the list of programs.

Control panel, default programs, Associate a file type or protocal with a program,

At bottom under Protocols,

Double click "MAILTO"
see if you can change it that way.

Or you may have to change the default your web browser uses.

Isn't there under WM's Options to Make this my Default Mail Handler?

Or get Windows Live Mail from MS Download Centre.

That only gives an option to select an app in the store. Thanks for your suggestions, It seems it can't be changed.

Try Firefox, options, Applications, scroll down to "mailto" of the right of that you can select a default program.
If it's not listed click "use other", then you can select location when windows mail is installed.
