It is certainly not a cheap DVD drive, it is a LG blue-ray writer. Seems ok now, but I am not impressed that I had to reinstall windows. Stupid Microsoft.

They produce something that is better than the rubbish they was producing before and then on the next Os they go back to producing rubbish.

I have still not installed much software yet as I am still thinking of going back to windows 7.

I know this isn't a BSOD issue but sort of similar.
With my XP PC the USB card reader sometimes makes Explorer hang. Only way to resolve is to unplug the reader, reboot the PC, plug the reader back in and voila - usually all is ok but seems to be a strange occurrence.

This happens about 1 in every 10 uses of the reader. Why would it work in 9 cases and then throw it's toys out of the pram on the tenth? Drivers up to date and XP up to date.

I have to say intermittent fault or bad drivers. Either way I'd be replacing it but then again I can't live with any instability from any device, especially as I do not turn off technology (just standby).

Have you tried older drivers? I often find the new ones can introduce new bugs.
