Have just spent an afternoon with a new Windows 8 (not 8.1) laptop, setting everything up and finding my way around. I've got the conventional IE screen for the desktop, but the IE tile on the main Start menu defaults to Bing (I hate it so!). I must have clicked to accept it after I'd lost the will to live for the 20th time, but how can I re-set it so that it goes to the conventional IE screen with the toolbars etc? Here's a laugh - Currys/PC World sold it to me so that it would 'work straight out of the box'. They tried to install MacAfee and their Ethernet connection was so slow that the tech guy set up his mobile phone as an access point and did it that way! 65 Windows updates later, it does work. All credit to him though - it was his data allowance he was using.
