8.1 & Thunderbird

Anyone help??

I'm using Thunderbird as my default Email Client, under Win8.1.

I've never had this problem on previous versions of Win, so I'm assuming it is a Win8/8.1 problem!

If I click on an email link, within a Web-Page, I obviously expect it take me directly to my default email Client (i.e. Thunderbird) - however it takes me to a "Metro-App" that asks me if I want to create a Microsoft Account!!

The only way around this seems to be to copy/paste the details & then open Thunderbird (Just remind me why some people think this makes Win8/8.1 easier!).

Does anyone know how to configure Win8/8.1 to behave correctly?

Just sounds to me like your program access defaults and/or file type extensions (the system specific ones or browser specific) need changing or correcting. As per batboy, which browser?

That's sorted it!

Never had that problem before, on any other incarnations of Windows, as Thunderbird has always requested should it be set as default (on initial install) & once confirmed have not had problems!
