Windows 10

Windows 10 has a change for Command Prompt: you can now copy and paste into it, and select words and lines using the Shift key.

So can XP.

Not using the standard shortcut keys by default.

Windows 10 looks like it is going to be a very nice improvement yet again. The only possible thing that could let it down is if they truely start forcing users into their cloud services. As long as that is optional (and I think it will be) then I will be very much looking forward to it.

Batty is selling it short. Resizable start menu with live tiles that is customisable on the fly. New task manager/action centre and multiple desktops to mention just a few.

Of course! I think the point is though that they are still catering for the power users/admins.

Why this obsession with tiles? OK for tablets etc. but a waste of time on a decent desktop (or even laptop). They'll never improve upon Win7 at this rate, but I'll reserve judgement for a bit until I've seen the full Monty, so to speak.

Think its to create a consistent design so everything looks similar on phone, tablet, xbox and PC. Problem is when its a mouse tiles are pointless

I believe you can remove the tiles, but if a few minutes of customization to remove them is a problem by all means stick with Windows 7!

When you have a touch screen computer or laptop, or have a tablet that you move around and/or dock and connect keyboard and mice, the tiles make a lot of sense.

Microsoft clearly know that the whole Win8/8.1 saga has not been their finest hour and that the whole mobile/tile-based interface versus traditional start button issue could have been avoided by asking their customers. Tiles are fine on my Windows phone where the screen is quite small but I don't want them on a computer, even with a touchscreen. Win7 is the choice in most business environments and that says it all. I've used Windows ever since I had to boot 3.1 from a floppy and I have to say that 8 is my least favourite!
