IE 11

I posted here approx. two weeks ago under 'Duff updates' that I had probs with IE after installing some updates. Updates are shown as installed OK, but IE didn't want to load past the initial blue screen.

As a result I have been using GoogleChrome (much preferred anyway) for everything. Well nearly everything. It's a pain in the proverbial when, for example, a web address within an email insists on trying to load via IE and I have to copy/paste the address into GoogleChrome.

Is there any way I can reload just IE without doing a s/w rebuild? Unfortunately my Dell Inspiron came without any backup disks, and is out of its support period.

Wife's laptop is OK but again no backup disks. We both run under Win.8.1

Any proposals would be very welcome.

I can't answer your question, but you can tell Windows which browser to use for opening external links.

Control Panel >> Programs >> Default Programs >> Set Default Programs, and select Chrome in the list.

Two alternatives as Bob suggested above make Chrome the default, or reset IE. To reset IE 11 go to Control Panel --> Internet Options --> Advanced Tab --> Press reset button.

After lot of bug reports I left all the familly computers with IE 10.
Now some get offered IE11 upgrade, others don't.. ?
Is IE 11 now OK, better then IE1O ?

Looks the same as ever to me - but I'm using the desktop mode in Win 8.1.

The "Start Menu" mode is garbage.

Thanks Roberto (et al). Did as you advised. Don't know what I've done but (dare I write?) IE11 seems to have changed it's mind. However my preference is still for GoogleChrome.

I am surprised that people still use IE. i have not used it as my main browser for years, come to think of It i do not think I have ever used IE as my main browser,

I have had a look at each new version, but always gone back to Netscape, Phoenix, firebird, firefox, before changing to a Chrome clone about 3 years back.

Now I am trying out Palemoon to see what it is like.

Palemoon is annoying me at the moment,, for some reason it don't remember my zoom options. I normally have the forums in here zoomed in to let me see them better, but on restart, palemoon set it back to default.

I do actually use IE11 on my windows PC and Chrome on the android tablets I have. I think nothing of swapping between them. They are "just there" tools now.
