i have got 10240,
I had to link Windows 10 to my MS account to get it, now I will unlink it.,
And when you unlink it you get
"The information associated with your Microsoft account still exists"
Not sure what you mean there, i just put the computer back to a local account. i do get the odd notice about the insider build settings are not correct.
I ended up creating a new user, logging in with my MS account on the new account
updated it to final build then deleted the new account.
Ok.
i am not staying with Windows 10 anyway, i have it on a second hard drive, I still have 8.1 as my main windows Os

You can set up a 4 digit pin instead of using the more complex email password. Like yourself I have a nightmare password to type correctly and using a simple 4 digit pin is far superior.
Its in settings, accounts, sign in options, PIN
Once that is set up and when you log in next chose your log on type at start up
Forgot all about the PIN, I think that is in win 8 too have just set my win 10 to PIN.

well as it turns out I converted my account to a local account and the windows store still works, as well as onedrive, so thats fine.

That's interesting, wonder if they can still bill you on a local account for the store.

That is strange, but you are correct, I tried it and yes Onedrive works and so does the store.
I have now unlinked one drive, but I find it a bit worrying that while I think my computer is unlinked from my MS account it is truly not.

Didn't you get the message ""The information associated with your Microsoft account still exists"........"
when you unlinked your MS account?

it does work, but then an alert pops up stating to carry on using insider builds I need to switch back to a microsoft account.
So probably be fine for the release version, but not for inssider testing.

i did not see it, but i linked back up and then unlinked and I saw it then.
Anyway I found out how to stop the store working and one drive.
Go to settings, click on accounts and then your accounts and at the bottom is other accounts you use and it will list your MS account. Click on remove and that is it. gone and dusted,.
I tried to download something from the store and it would not allow me unless I put in my MS account, one drive have vanished from the task bar and if I click on the one drive folder in Explorer it will ask me to sign in.
Sorted
