Other than those on the Insider Program (or similar), has anyone actually been upgraded today?

So far it is looking like a big non-event!!

MS do a poor show.
No pictures of idiots queuing in the wind and rain just to be the "first" to get a new product.

Im on the insider program and I have the upgrade icon on my 8.1 tray but havent seen the upgrade ready balloon yet. I have the downloaded folders on my machine but just upgrade failed in wu history.

I have done one machine thats not in the IP and was impatient to see the RTM so I used the media creation tool from here and downloaded the ISO that way and mounted the ISO in Win 8.1 and ran setup to perform the upgrade. All went sweet apart from activation I had to hammer the activate button about 30 times to get through to the server. Apparently that's the way to do it or use a script. Anyway activated now but I did get a rather strange email saying I had reached my Device limit for the store.

Using contact us in Win 10 I got an chat with an answer tech who said to ignore the email as he could only see 1 device on my account although it was just after activation.

LOL. It looks as though it's downloading to my PC - lots of disk activity and the upgrade icon has gone from my notification area.

I'm waiting on both a Desktop & a Laptop, but the current status appears to be different for both of them:-

UPGRADE ICON:-
Still present on my Desktop, but gone from my Laptop

HIDDEN $Windows.~BT Directory:-

Present on my Desktop, but NOT my Laptop

"Windows 10 Upgrade Reserved" message in W.U. Box:-
Disappeared from Desktop, but still present on Laptop

"Update to Win 10 Failed" message in Upgrade History:-
So far have 14 on my Desktop, none listed on my Laptop.

Not particularly convincing nor consistent, so far!

Nothing here. Looked at my update history in Windows Update, and it says "Upgrade to Windows 10 Home" Failed a few times. Should I be worried?

You don't need to be on the Insider Program you can trick Windows Update into downloading it immediately(assuming you reserved a copy).

I used the Windows update trick to download it yesterday(couldn't be bothered to join the Insider Program). Downloaded fine, installed fine, booted to the desktop and everything looked OK - however when I tried to launch apps I often got a non-stop busy icon. Googling suggested my install may be corrupt - not sure why that would be - suggested solution, complete reinstall.

So re-imaged my HD(2 hours frown ), downloaded the 10240 ISO, re-installed from DVD(not updates). This time the install works and am using it now.

Moral of the story, you can make Windows Update install immediately but I'd suggest installing from DVD/USB may have a greater chance of success.

I was on the Inside Program - suppose I still am but deleted the build as it slowed my antique E6300 to a crawl!

I managed to download & install w10 - I clicked on the reserved email FAQ link and hey presto.... W7 replaced with a rather uninspiring W10.

Notable problems I had were no sound, this I traced to the Realtek device manager, for some reason W10 does not copy over the sound card settings for the speakers.. The other is that clicking on Edge, or the feedback link, there is a noticeable delay before anything happens and then a further delay whilst the screen "thinks"...

Updated my AMD Catalyst driver and I am asked to do a reboot to finish off the update, [censored] this must have been the longest ever - 35 minutes following the restart before I could get on and use the PC. What a waste of time.

Oh and one more thing - have a look in your update history - I had 4 Security updates within the first 2 hrs (if you can call it that) of use. I'll be rolling back to w7 very soon and when I pass this antique on to my kids to use, I'll be running a Linux distro on my new box.

I couldn't wait until Microsoft thinks it should be downloaded, and forced the download to start...

I must say the Microsoft have done a marvelous job in limiting bandwidth problems...

Forced upgrade didn't work - still get the failed update error (80240020). It would be really nice if Microsoft stated what it meant, but with the NewOS directory being empty, I presume the actually OS still isn't available frown
