Internet issue in windows 8.1

Hi.
I have connected my PC to the router with an ethernet cord. The modem is connected to the yellow colored internet port in the router. On the computer, the network name comes up, but it has a yellow exclamation point and internet doesn�t work. I have broadband internet connection by ABC communications in Vancouver and have a dell laptop with windows 8.1. It is definitely not an internet connection issue, as I can access internet in my iPod and smartphone. I tried to do the troubleshooting steps in windows, but nothing helped. Can someone help me solve it?

Make and model of router?
