Did you follow the link earlier in the thread?

Mine has now finished the upgrade and it runs pretty well on this cheapo 7" tablet.

Certainly did! Busy downloading now. I had hoped that it would have been available "normally", but I'm not going to wait weeks for it...

I quite like this screen : Something Happened

Its short and sweet and utterly uninformative (I know what happened, and really the program should know too)... That is the problem with Microsoft (and Apple really) : they may have people designing User Interfaces, but they need people on User Information.

Heart-stopping moment

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

I didn't get that, alas, but my own favourite uninformative message was, halfway through reading its stuff off a memory stick, it suddenly told me that it couldn't read any more, as it didn't have the driver installed (I paraphrase). I took the memory stick out and my machine restarted and finished the install.

Weird! Could be a bug or it removed a driver for some reason...

I did the upgrade directly from the executable, rather than any external media. Saves worrying about whether the SD Card will be wiped or trying to find a DVD...

I was undertaking a direct install but, because of limited Drive Size (its a Tablet-type device), it insisted I use a USB!!

I did mine on a tablet this morning but it had plenty of space. The old windows install following the update took up about 6GB of disk space - quite a chunk compared to the disk size on some tablets.

Take that 6GB, plus the actual install of the new windows plus the 2GB+ that it downloaded to do the install and some tablet disks will be somewhat inadequate.

Mine had approx 11.5GB available, but the pre-Installation d/l approx 5GB (into 2 hidden directories) before it started the actual Install. Just before starting it stated that it needed at least 9GB - but suggested that this could be on a USB (which should be kept, if a roll-back was required).

Hence I proceeded on the basis of using the USB!

My upgrade was smooth apart from a screen freeze after setup.

I have also had a couple of nvidia driver crashes and recovery so I will try a clean install of the video drivers.

VMware player doesn't seem to work might need an update. So far that is all I have found.
