Win 10 - Something happened

Using the Media Creation Tool to download and create a 64-bit ISO. The download goes just fine, the validation (presumably a checksum) is fine, then BANG!

Something happened
0x80070070 - 0xC19001DF

No ISO.

Bah! Typical Microsoft.

Still, I suppose that "Something happened" is more user-friendly (albeit less traditional) than "Error". An error message that just says "Error" is enough to put the fear of God into even the most hardened software developer. "Something happened" is much more reassuring.

The irony is that after chewing up 3GB of my network usage, nothing happened.

Why can't they be honest and say "Something bad happened"?

It sounds like to may have run out of space. Were you writing to a DVD or USB stick ? If its the latter, then it does appear that the amount Microsoft say you should have is rather inadequate (due to further updates downloaded later on).

It would be really nice if error messages were useful

Something like :

Unfortunately, a problem has occurred :
You have run out of disk space (0x80070070)
Please try to fix this error and try again. The program will now exit

It ran out of space on the C: drive. I had asked for the ISO file to be written to a drive with plenty of space but it looks like the initial download is to the C: drive.
