It's something I've done for many years to separate System stuff from user data. I like to feel it gives me more control, and a better understanding of how big the System stuff is.
The reality is that these days with disc capacities and speeds being what they are it's perhaps unnecessary. But hey, it's
my PC - despite what some software companies seem to think.
For my next PC, whenever that may be, I'm thinking along the lines of a 256GB SSD for System (i.e. C: drive) and 2TB (or so) HDD for data.
Edit: When I take an image of the C: drive it's also much smaller than if that drive also contained all my data. All my data is secured separately by
