Can anyone recommend a modern browser that will run on Win XP in 160mb ram and non SSE processor. Firefox crashes as does seamonkey although v2 of firefox runs ok. IE 8 runs but very slowly, old version of seamonkey runs but again is slow, opera say I neeed SSE proecessor and so far the onluy browser that is fast is browzar v2 but its not being updated and uses IE6 engine and cant display some pages, any ideas?
Have you tried turning hardware acceleration off on firefox?
Also try the firefox long term servicing branch, that might work.
You knew I was gonna say it but that amount of RAM is so small you're going to be really pushing it trying to display webpages etc. These days a simple flash ad can suck up that amount. Try disabling all active content etc etc.
I have a 3 year old (very budget) Dell with [censored] Intel Celeron / 4GB RAM and even that struggles with websites with lots of flash and active content.

Firefox doesn't even open just get the crash box after installing so cant get to hardware acceleration option as ff wont open. Will google long term servicing branch and have a look.
I've had trouble with modern versions of firefox using an old system with xp and rather more ram than you have (forget how much, and don't have it here).
I'd suggest a text-only browser would be more realistic.

Currently trying K Meleon based on Mozilla engine, SkimBrowser and Qtweb. All run in 150mb ram on my XP laptop are fast at displaying pages even when running two at a time. Now to test which is the fastest on my K6=III 380 CPU and which is most compliant to new standards! Impressed.
