Win 10 Anniversary Edition - webcam problem fix

I've read that MS are (were?) hoping to get a fix for the problem introduced with the Anniversary Edition webcam problem in September.

Anyone know if there is yet an official fix for this problem?

for me, this issue has been sorted with one of the later Cumulative updates...

Interesting. I've inhibited the update (run Win 10 Pro on both PCs), but one son has AU and, AFAIK, still has the problem with his Logitech webcam.

Any idea which update?

Can't actually recall what update sorted it.
The work around fix before the update came out was to add a registry entry. It does actually work as I've used it myself in the past to get my Logitech webcam to work properly in skype.

Start Regedit.exe and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows Media Foundation\Platform

Create a REG_DWORD value named EnableFrameServerMode

Leave the value data for EnableFrameServerMode to 0.

If you�re using a 64-bit application, make the changes here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Media Foundation\Platform

Exit the Registry Editor and reboot.

Thanks. I knew about the registry edit, but was apprehensive about telling my son to do that sort f thing, and as he lives 250 miles away it's not something I can do on-site or wish to do remotely.

He has a tablet that Skype's ok so he's happy with that. I was also interested for some people I help and myself.

I'll post on the Windows 10 Forum and see what response I get.
