cannot "copy and paste"

for some reason I am unable to copy and paste websites on my windows 10..
I can highlight web address and right click and choose copy, but when I try to paste the address on a letter, the option is not available.

What are you using to edit the letter?

on my laptop, I am using windows mail and Edge browser and touch pad. When I highlight the address on Edge and right click copy option is available, but when I go to windows mail and right click no options ( copy, paste etc) are available. Very odd.

See if you can paste it into Notepad, a useful simple app to check things, or to de-format text.

I have this problem on a few sites and indeed some software but in all those cases Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V work

I find when even ctrl+C fail - then often Ctrl-Insert to copy and Shift-Insert to paste still work.

Thanks, didn't know the Insert feature; indeed that's an interesting article - I like keyboard shortcuts

I remember them from Windows 3 days - I am not sure Ctrl+C etc were available in those versions.
