Anyone else having problems with 64 bit Firefox 67.0.1

[link to this post]

I use Firefox 64 bit Vers. 67.0.1 and something happened a few days ago when I found that BBC iPlayer, on which I view TV, refused to display live TV and I just got a continuous egg timer. I sorted that by changing the settings for the Shockwave Add On from "Ask to Activate" to "Always Activate".

I'm unable to resolve my other problem which is when I go to my Halifax Online Banking login page. Firefox immediately locks up and becomes completely unresponsive so I either have to kill the task or close the window. I have a Sainsburys Banking account as well and the login page does exactly the same thing but as they are part of the Bank of Scotland group it's probably all under one roof.

In both cases Internet Explorer caused no problem and worked as normal. Although the time seems to have come when I should start using another browser, I'd like to 'bottom' this first. Anyone any ideas?

Can't help with your problem but I use the Beta channel and am now on 64-bit v68.0b7. Using Beta v.67 or v.68 has not given me those symptoms on a number of other banking sites.

I don't have accounts with Halifax or Sainsburys so can't confirm whether the log-in works with my current version but I can access their log-in pages and enter dummy user names and passwords which take me to a "you have entered incorrect details" page.

Usual Firefox advice is to re-start in Safe mode (no add-ons enabled). Go to the Help menu from the Menu Bar or Hamburger menu and click on "Re-start with add-ons disabled". See if the log-in works then enable the add-ons one by one to try and nail the offender.

Thanks for that. I've already tried safe mode and it didn't make any difference FF still locked up as soon as it starts loading the page.

The post that I found in the Mozilla community was someone with exactly same problem but with Lloyds TSB, which is also part of the Bank of Scotland group. I've subscribed to that thread and am hoping I'll hear what the resolution is within a day or two.

Lloyds and TSB are now two separate businesses.

Among other brands, Lloyds own Bank of Scotland and Halifax (https://www.lloydsbankinggroup.com/our-brands/).

TSB is an independent business that was sold out of the Lloyds TSB group as a requirement from the European Union following the state aid given to Lloyds TSB in 2008.

Who owns them is a moot point really. I just know from my own experience that trying to log in to either Halifax or Sainsburys Bank causes the problem and I have also seen and subscribed to the thread in Mozilla community where someone who is with Lloyds has the same issue.
