Windows 10 Search Problem

[link to this post]

Hello, I've searched Google but not found anything to help, I'm hoping somebody here may be able to help me.

I am running w10 2004 64 bit home.

The problem I have is with the search box next to the window (bottom left of screen) and File Explorer search.

The problem I have is when I click in either of these search boxes, the flashing cursor appears from a second or two then vanishes meaning I can't do any searches in there. I've found plenty about non functioning search boxes but so far nothing has helped. Could anybody please offer any help? Fingers crossed and thank you for looking / hopefully helping smile.

Are you using Chrome browser, which has a long-standing problem of disappearing cursors?

Thanks for that, no, the browsers on the machine are IE, Edge Chromium (could it be that?) and Firefox
