Ha, great! I read somewhere that with 1.2 you can install and use, but it was unclear if you'll get updates. One to watch!

My 2015 desktop with 4th gen i7, has no TPM, so I've not risked trialling it.

A closer look at PC Info says it is an i5-4210U.

Checking back through my emails I see I bought it in 2014.

No plans or functional needs to change it.

I would seriously consider updating to Windows 10 since security updates for W8.1 stopped a long while ago.

Actually, Windows 8.1 support ceases in 2023.

But as others said, maybe you should try Windows 10 first, I am surprised you have not updated, but then I licked windows 8 more than 10,

Booted brand new i7 11 Gen PC on Thursday with Win10 loaded. Once initialised it offered a Win11 update ... Not done yet but likely to do before I load all the other apps.

If I remember rightly, the "Home" edition was simply called "Windows 8.1". I'm not aware it being treated any differently to other editions in terms of support end date.
