Windows Evaluation Copy Message

[link to this post]

Gooood evening all.

I am on the Beta channel for Windows 11 and today my system did what seemed like a rather large update as it took a while and a few restarts.

I now have the fancy new Task Manager as well as other things.. Anyway...

My desktop now as this in the bottom right corner:

Evaluation copy. Build 22581.ni_release.220318-1623

My copy of Windows is still showing as activated under the Activation settings screen. Is there a way to get rid of this message?

I’m enrolled in the insider programme too (Dev channel) and have the same branding on screen.

Pretty sure you need to unenroll the PC from the programme to remove the branding and no longer get the preview builds - either by choosing to leave on the next version of windows release or immediately, but the latter is drastic and needs a clean reinstall on W11.

You can see the choices and make the necessary changes from Windows Update -> Windows Insider Programme.

I believe in the Beta channel which I have just changed to from Dev. it will disappear on next update. Dev channel it will remain.

I got the following email from MS this week about changing from Dev to Beta…

Hi Windows Insider,
Based on our records, you have a PC that is currently configured for flighting Windows 11 Insider Preview Builds from the Dev Channel.
As announced in our blog post on February 3, 2022, we are evolving our program to lean more heavily on the Dev Channel as a place to incubate new ideas, work on long lead items, and control the states of individual features. This means that some features and experiences in the Dev Channel may never get released as we try out different concepts and get feedback.
In parallel, the Beta Channel will be previewing experiences that are closer to what we will ship to our general customers.
Now that the Dev and Beta Channels are receiving the same builds, the window is open for you to switch channels following these simple steps:
Open Windows Insider Program">Settings>Windows Update>Windows Insider Program.
Select Choose your Insider settings
Select Beta Channel.
The next time you receive an update, it will be for your new channel.
IMPORTANT: This window will close once we release builds with higher build numbers to the Dev Channel. If your device stays on the Dev Channel and receives a build that is a higher build number than what is in the Beta Channel, you will have to do a clean installation of the released version of Windows 11 on your device to switch to the Beta Channel.
No action is required if you want to continue receiving the Windows 11 Insider Preview Builds in the Dev Channel.

Thanks

I have been in the beta channel since before release of Windows 11.

I have since uninstalled the latest update as it caused major stuttering in Lost Ark (Game) but other games where fine.

No idea what that was about and of course the evaluation message went as well.
