Yes, used to use it in the 90's. But as you say not been good for a quite a long time now. The manufacturers tend to preinstall either McAfee or Norton (presumably they get a kick back from the AV provider). I remove them as soon as I setup the device.

Have you compared it to any other browsers, like the pre installed Microsoft Edge ?

Or install Firefox and see if that behaves the same.

Thanks, I stopped reading when it looked like we were getting into (deserved) third party anti-virus bashing. And I couldn't conceive that the anti-virus could add a 60 second lag on opening webpages.

But I guess the skills of the anti-virus vendors know no bounds...

Its no longer antivirus….. it is doing a lot more than that, and why the impact to the machine can sometimes been nothing and sometimes be significant. The security suite is trying to modify the OS and as we saw with the Crowdstrike fiasco, this is not to the benefit of the end user.

Unlike macOS, Windows is pretty open so its up to the user to manage their computer.
