Can my previous ISP unbundle my Zen line?

[link to this post]

Hi all,

My previous ISP (Eclipse) has just sent me a letter saying they intend to unbundle my line in the next month or so. Since I left Eclipse and came to Zen about two months ago, I'm a little perturbed by this!

I'm obviously telling them not to unbundle my line, but given Eclipe's plummetting support standards recently, I'm slightly concerned they might try to do it anyway.

What will happen if they try to do this, given that my line is currently provided by Zen? Is there any way I can prevent them from messing up my connection?

Cheers,

Tim.

I would advise contacting Eclipse to ensure they remove you from any lists. We've seen a couple of issues lately where former Pipex migrations have been LLU'd on to Pipex kit, which creates a lot of problems as BT then consider the service belongs to Pipex and won't let us do anything about it. We're obviously speaking to BT about how this has been allowed to happen and what they're going to do to stop it but, in the meantime, I'd strongly advise making sure the same doesn't happen with Eclipse.

regards,
Phil.

Many thanks for the rapid response - I've raised a call with Eclipse, and hopefully that will prevent anything happening.

FYI we have a customer who has been 'unbundled' by PIPEX, its been a nightmare to get it moved back...

The above post has been made by an ISP REPRESENTATIVE (although not necessarily the ISP being discussed in the post).

I never knew this was possible when you had migrated out to another ISP!

I hope something is being done by BT Wholesale to prevent this happening in future because if nothing is done then with the increasing amount of UK lines getting unbundled then this will be a major headache

And with some of the proposal's regarding a compulsory migration scheme it could become a really big issue.

That sounds somewhat dangerous, BT shouldn't accept LLU migration requests from ISP's that do not currently support the line, unless there's a MAC code generated for that line. It would enable some of the bigger ISP's to force some of their customers back!

I too have recently migrated from Eclipse (27.09.06), I had a letter from them saying that their service would cease on 21.10.06 then I got the LLU letter today ( dated 30.10.06)! I have raised a ticket about this and ticked the opt out option on the cp which is still surprisingly working for me. I'll follow this up with a phone call tomorrow - and probably a letter too.

I'm getting married on the 11th and could really do without all this nonsense now.
