Migration to Zen - a question about ADSL Max

[link to this post]

Hi there

I am in the process of migrating from Onetel to Zen (started on the 3rd and should go live tommorrow).
At the moment I am on a 2 Gig line standard ADSL and don't really know much about ADSL Max other than a higher speed.
My query is regarding the 10 day training period required for the line to stabilise.
I am going on honeymoon on Monday the 16th April returning on the 26th and don't really want to leave any electrical items on (fire risk).
Would anyone know what would happen to the process if I only had the router on for 4 - 5 days at the start of the Zen activation ?

Thanks I'm looking forward to higher speeds and an escape from the imminent TalkTalk switchover!

Cheers

Mark

Are you turning your freezer off ? ADSL routers are designed to run 24/7, so the fire risk really is minimal. The 10 day training establishes a base line which BT use in conjunction with complaints of poor line performance, so it's in your interests to have a high MSR (maximum stable rate).

"Are you turning your freezer off ?"

Fair point! I'll be leaving it on then I guess.
I'm sure the missus is convinced that the flat will burn down based on a conversation she had with a fireman once.

Thanks for the info.

I had a friend of mine get a Zen ADSL max connection to his new house. He did not have any router connected after the connection went live, as he didn't move to his new house straight away. 20ish days later I connected the router for him, and the sync rate was straight off 8128, and it has stayed on that rate ever since. He gets a D/L speed of 6.5 to 7 Mbps.

Draw your own conclusions.

If you speak to zen, I understand that can restart the 10 day retraining session again by asking BT. So I would use it until you go on holiday. Turn off while on holiday and when you return, if you have a 'problem' contact support.

Rubbish <g>. It is something genetic...most women think that way. Like all your electrics are just waiting until you are away for a few days before they decide to start arcing away. Women don't realise the risk (small though it is) is the same when your abode is occupied .

Enjoy the honeymoon.

What a generalisation

Glad to see chauvanism is still alive and kicking

What on earth made you think it was dead?

And shouldn't you be cooking or cleaning?
