Interleaving On / Off

Just a quick query. On Zens services is interleaving on / off as default and can a customer specifically request it to be off?

It is auto I believe, i.e. if the BT systems decide to switch it on they will.

It's set to 'Auto' by default - so it will come on if BT's systems monitor your connection and believe it will resolve connectivity issues; allowing you to maintain higher throughput. If latency your priority rather than speed we can get it switched off. A knowledge base article providing details of how to do this can be found here:

Out of intrest does it depend on what exchange you are on (equipment) that determines what AUTO mode does? For example my line stats are very good (SNR Margin 16, Loop Att. 12), and interleaving is on for my connection..

At my previous address, I always connected on Fast Path, at my current address Interleaving is switched on. When it was swtiched off, I never had a problem. i.e. dropping connections, but now I do see latency, especially when using VoIP.

As far as I can tell, I am roughly the same distace from the exchange as my previous address. My SNR, etc. are at a reasonable rate (7.5-8.5db) at a speed of 7500.

Would switching Interleaving off in my case improve my VoIP? I'd much have a slower speed and stable connection, than the fastest available with corrected errors.

Thanks Phil and everyone for the replies.

I guess I just have to make a call then. Do I pay my exit fees and lose sync speed by coming off Adsl2 and hope latency comes down or do I stick it out and make do with what I have.

Line stats are posted below is they shed any light for anyone to help me make a decision. Currently with 02 and interleaving is on as default (they do not allow it to be switched off.

(Its been that long since I paid any attention to line stats that I've forgotten which way round SNR and attenuation should be and if these are good / bad!
