My exchange has recently been enabled for up to 20mb services. I'm currently on 8000 pro and my line stats are
DownStream Connection Speed 7136 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 25.0 db /14.0 db
Noise Margin 9.1 db /21.0 db
I did just replace my router last week and this newer one is giving a slightly faster sync (previous was 6720 kbps)
Is the migration to the newer services automatic or by request? If it's by request, what should I expect based on those stats?
Thanks!

You have to request it via the portal.
Virgin (ADSL) => Namesco => Newnet => O2 => Plusnet => Zen => Newnet => Zen Lite 8000

When I select "regrade a service" it just gives the options to regrade to 8000 Lite, 8000 Active, and the 2 office services. I'd want to move from 8000 Pro to Zen Pro

It may just be that Wholesale Broadband Managed Connect (WBMC) hasn't yet been enabled on that exchange (pr Zen haven't yet been notified that it has)
Best thing you can do is to talk to support or drop them a mail with your username and they will let you know and may even be able to order the regrade for you (takes up to about 10 days I think as BT work is required)

Sign into the Customer Portal. click My Services and then Broadband and SDSL on the left hand navigation and then click View Line Data and look for 'your current line technology is'

I maybe wrong but I don't think you can get 20 Meg on that line type, are you sure the exchange has been upgraded to 21CN?
I think you need to talk to support.
Mine says WBMC, I did try the 20 meg service but because of my line length it became quite unstable and ended up down to 350k, now get about 1.9 Mbps but with your stats you'll get a good speed I suspect.

When I put my phone number into the checker on the Zen homepage it says
"Line enabled for "up to 20 Mbps": Yes
Samknows site says for my exchange
"21CN WBC status: Enabled as of 28/02/2011"
|

The process is that once the exchange is enabled at some point Zen will move your line to 21CN.
Then the upgrade option becomes available in the portal.
You could have a word with Zen to see if your line can be moved soon.

Hi No_one,
Do you know which exchange are you on?
jphilip is correct in that we will need to move you to 21CN before you can request the upgrade.
Many thanks,
Brian

The above post has been made by an ISP REPRESENTATIVE (although not necessarily the ISP being discussed in the post).

My exchange is Oakham. (01572)
Any idea what sort of improvement i'm likely to get based on those line stats? (line is currently interleaved)
|
|
|
|
hi, Funny ive just noticied our exchange oakham has bene upgrades (01572)
But i am confused as to what happens next and how i can get the faster spped. The line check i should get upto 15 megs

Well I'm still none the wiser. The checker says my line is good for up to 8 meg. I think that might have been predicted using the data from when I was using my old router though. Since changing to a router with a broadcom chipset my sync has gone from around 6300 to 7616 (running in forced interleaved mode)
Current stats are
Connection Speed 7616 kbps / 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 25.0 db / 14.0 db
Noise Margin 6.5 db / 21.0 db

As i said mines says i can get upto 15 meg, Think i will phone them tomorrow

Cool. Let us know how you get on

Hi
If you could message me the phone number your service is on ill have a look at this for you.
|
|
|
Good rule of thumb to apply is that if you currently get over 4.5, you will see benefits from ADSL 2+, and if you are below that then you will best staying on the A|DSL 8mb service.
