Hi,
I am looking forward to moving (back*) Zen with our migration/activation date confirmed for a few weeks time.
The sales guy I spoke to did say our exchange does have Zen LLU available, so hopefully it is over that mechanism.
Does Zen have a looking glass or can anyone suggest any IPs that I could ping from the remote services we use?
The spikes in latency we are currently experiencing with our current provider (basically Talk Talk Business) is terrible. This only started over the last 4-6 weeks, so coincides with the mass national Working From Home. Prior to that my current provider was great/fine.
[*Zen was our first broadband provider 20 years ago when 512kbps was the jump up from dial-up]

Not sure where it lives in there network but you can try "echo.zen.co.uk"
Various (Dile up) -> clara.net (Dile up) -> TELE2 (Microwave) -> ZeN (ADSL) -> ZeN (vDSL)

Thanks. Looks like that is one of their DNS servers.
Any idea on any of their DSL termination IPs? e.g. a gateway that my connection would see as its first hop. I assume if I could ping that, then that gives an idea of latency up to the final leg to me.

Perhaps?

Or perhaps ping their speedtest page - http://speedtest.zen.co.uk
Thanks

Thanks - I saw that
Wondering why it is ~12ms. I'm currently hitting that same IP around a third lower (TT Business/LLU).

Generally you'll get single digits on a good line nearer the south but you would move into double digits as you go further north. Its just inherent latency in the network with it all terminating in London.
Sheffield, although at my exchange Zen use Talk Talk Business backhaul.

Got connected.
With their router, getting a solid 6ms pings to 1.1.1.1
Solid 7ms with my own hardware combination.
And none of the silly random latency spikes that was happening with TTB (via Pulse8)
Really pleased.
Thanks all.
