Zen Fritzbox for 500 and 900 Mb services

[link to this post]

Does anyone know what box Zen are supplying for new 500 and 900 Mbit installs ?

Is it still the 7530 ? Does it cope with those speeds, as the spec says it's only for connections up to 300 Mb or is that speed only on the VDSL side ?

Thanks ... Andy

Hi,

We provide the FRITZ!Box 7530.

"up to 300 Mbps" - refers to the routers support of 35b supervectoring. This enables VDSL connections to achieve speeds of upto 300Mbps. Disclaimer - 35b supervectoring isn't offered on Openreach's VDSL network.

The 7530 handles 500Mbps and 900Mbps via the gigabit Ethernet WAN port without issue.

Worth remembering though that to achieve those speeds you should connect to the FRITZ!Box using an Ethernet cable. WiFi will give great speeds just not as fast as 500Mbps / 900Mbps.

Thanks Andrew .... just in the process of planning my new house setup, and planning to hard wire where ever possible.

I was only checking so see if there was a hardware/chipset limitation as i was told my existing Draytek 2680 would struggle with 500 Mbs on the WAN port. (To be fair the wifi is a bit dated on that box as well)
