I'm on my way. Downside is I have to wait 1 week to be switched from Yayzi to Zen
I asked Yayzi about some issues with my connection that where supposed to have been fixed and also asked about leaving early, The only thing they said was "30 days notice to cancel"
0% interest in looking into the issues to try and keep me as a customer so I have 0% interest in hanging about.
Its been a fun 11 months Yayzi but toodles!

Sadly it seems to be similar across various ISP's when things go wrong. Good luck with Zen.
Poor performing ISP's need to be brought to account.

Should I be worried it says "Failed" Here
Work in progress, since 24/04/2025 14:48
Wait for KCI-1 - FAILED 24/04/2025 15:03

Where is "Here", i.e. where did you see that message?
Is this an installation of Openreach FTTP?
For OR, KCI-1 is order acknowledgement, and they can reject the order at this point. It might indicate an inconsistency in the database, because presumably the property was shown as FTTP available in the availability checker. Or it might mean Zen omitted some essential information from the order they placed.
In my experience, once an order is accepted by the system it's usually pushed through to completion even if extra engineering working work is required. It could mean a delay of weeks or months though, depending on what exactly the issue is (e.g. do they need to apply for a permit from the council for permission to dig the road or pavement)
But really, you shouldn't be asking here, you should be asking your service provider what this means for your installation date and what they're going to do about it. It might mean they just need to adjust some data and resubmit the order to OR, or they might need to get OR to explain why the order failed. You may find yourself getting compensation if the originally agreed activation date slips.

I thought the OP was on CityFibre not Openreach but what you're saying makes a lot of sense as always.

Sorry, Missed a bit.
This is on the Zen order tracker. This is a ISP migration from Yayzi (City Fibre) to Zen (City Fibre)
|
|
|
|
I'd perhaps talk to Zen and ask why its failed, have Yayzi blocked the switch?
|
|
|
Within 15 mins of placing the order? I doubt it lol.

Something that CityFibre really appear to (still) struggle with are migrations from one ISP to another ISP on their own network.
It's not a patch on Openreach (no pun) when it comes to moving supplier. They need to try harder.

When I've switched suppliers the "sorry you are leaving" type emails have started to arrive from the loosing ISP almost as quick as the order confirmation from the new one.
Anyhow, I'll leave you to it and hope that Zen resolve all your problems. Good luck

I shall give them a call on Monday to check in.

That was my experience, too.

Nothing from Yayzi at all.
Called Zen today, The automated system didn't put the order in correctly so the guy on the phone at Zen put it in manually.
But now I got an email saying ill have an engineer visit on the 14th to install lol.
So now I need to call in again to check on that. Should not need an engineer to come.

It's a shame CF take over 2 weeks to get a migration done.... Crazy.
|
|
|
|
As said, CF have a lot of catching up, on back office process etc, compared with Openreach when it comes to changing ISP’s on-net.
|
|
|
Seems to be an issue on CF with migrations often people get a new ONT, did Zen specifically request a new ONT?

Only needed when the original ONT only had a 1Gb ethernet port and a faster service is required. Don't know if you'd call it an issue.

There is people ordering single gig or less packages, and then getting a new ONT installed on migration, it happens as some ISPs routinely request a new ONT even if its not needed. Its an issue when you dont want that inconvenience and instead fast engineer free switching.
There was also someone who tried to switch back to 1 gig from multi gig and CF tried to do a ONT swap themselves.

Actually, I don't see why an ONT swap shouldn't be done by the customer. Because they, the two that I've had experience of, hook onto screws at the same spacing, lifting one off, unplugging three cables, sliding the new one on and connecting three existing cables shouldn't be too much to ask. The plus/sockets are all different so no risk of confusion.

It is not the same as swapping over a ADSL/VDSL router, with solely electrical connections, there is a risk of getting the end of the fibre dirty and then transferring that dirt to the ONT socket.
Do CF installers always clean the end of the fibre? I saw them do it on my installation.

The customer wasnt wanting the ONT to be swapped, it didnt need to be swapped but cityfibre wanted to do it, luckily the ISP on that occasion stopped the needless waste of time and resources.

I have a GP1000 ONT so if someone does come to swap it, I would hope it would be a faster model so when XGS-PON finally comes they wont have to come out again.
Ill find out tomorrow...
Side note. My contract with Zen started the day they sent the router and not tomorrow, The install date.
Not liking the eero pro 6e at all. Will stick with my GL.iNet MT6000 as its is Wi-Fi actually faster somehow.
Plus I can actually change settings lol
Also actually, Second side note.... Why is Zen giving out a router on the 1.8Gpbs package that does not have a 2.5Gb LAN port? Only the WAN is.
Meaning one has to rely on Wi-Fi to get the 1.8Gbps speed out of it. If your splitting that over a few devices at 500Mpbs on each then sure, youll get the full speed but im not.
The GL.iNet GL-MT6000 i about the same cost and there's some TP-Link ISP routers available also.

Are they claiming you can get the bandwidth on one device? to me the benefit of multi gig would be you could e.g. have a couple of consoles connected via gigabit LAN maxing out at the same time without the wider connection being saturated, the benefit of a per device multi gig is quite small. I would actually not a want a single device capable to saturate the WAN.
Did they swap the ONT? You have a GPON 2.5gig model, thy should be swapping it if they putting you on XGS. If you have an engineer appointment, it suggests they want to swap for some reason.

Its just me here using the connection
I was switched over last night about 1am. Line was dead for about 10 mins.
I have a slower GP1000 model ONT. So when 2.5Gb gets here I will need an ONT swap.
