Mmm - tried rebooting the PC, I know if I run for a long time using hibernate, that some apps do give funny behaviour. Another possibility may be a java oddity if the firmware page is exploiting java

Beyond that a quick google doesn't throw lots of others up having the problem, so I'd hang back for and see if others have the problem and fix it.

You are sure you have a V3 version, i.e. check the model number underneath the router.

You asked what to do to prevent "Nasties" when you disabled AVG, by pulling the modem cable you would no longer be connected to the outside world, therefore disabling AVG wouldn't leave you open to the "Nasties" as you wouldn't be able to aquire "Nasties".

EDIT: By modem cable I mean the RJ11 one (small connectors) that goes from your ADSL / Phone port on your Modem to your microfilter that is connected to your phone socket - NOT the RJ45 type (larger) that connect your PC to your router

Ok sorry for resurrecting an old thread here but FINALLY, some good news to report (about time too seeing as November will be 2 years since I bought the router!).

On a whim I decided to go back to the netgear firmware page for the V3 model, and as luck would have it there was a new version, 4.01.40. I uploaded it onto the router, and, thank god, at last the WPA/WPA2 now works!

As a side bonus, the router's wireless light now flashes again when there's wireless activity.

That's it! No more darned upgrades for me in case one of them breaks again!

The new firmware has fixed a lot of issues icluding the NAT/Routing tables. Let me know how the new firmware goes and please PM me any issues you see.

Do you happen to know what chip is inside my new Belkin N1 Vision wireless router? I'm very happy with it but my son tells me that he gets disconnected from his WoW server once or twice a session. We've upgraded to Belkin's latest beta firmware - v1.00.07 - which claims to fix a problem whereby disconnects can occur at 2-hourly intervals, but although he is now getting disconnected less often, it still happens once a night.

He begged me to switch back to our Netgear DG834v2 so I did for testing purposes - and he was still disconnected from WoW. Maybe both routers have the same problem... or perhaps the cause lies elsewhere...?

Just one small niggle and that is once again to do with the WPA keys. If I try using a full 63-character alphanumeric key, all devices stall while trying to obtain the key from the router.

So far I've tried a 16-character and a 35-character WPA key and they both work, so tomorrow when I get time I'll try 50 characters and upwards until I reach some sort of ceiling.

Otherwise, everything is finally working like it should.

OMG....

It's also fixed the streaming from my Linux box to the PS3!

And to think the other month I was giving serious consideration towards selling the router.
