"Traffic profile change required"

[link to this post]

Does anyone know what this means:

"Traffic profile change required? - IN PROGRESS FOR 8 MINUTES"

in an order status for Zen? I suspect it's nothing too sinister, but it has a nasty sound to it, but mainly I'm just curious.

Have you had a re-sync or placed an order for a re-grade.

I can't think where I have seen this before, and I've just got home from work so by the time I get up someone would of posted an answer.

Yes it's a regrade, but from Office 8000 to Office 8000 Max - so the "profile" at BTs end won't change, it's purely a Zen change.

If a line is LLU, the equipment we have installed in the exchange needs to be configured with the details of the line. There are a number of settings for each line and, collectively, we refer to these as the 'traffic profile'.

During the provision of a new line, or a regrade, it may be necessary to set up or change these settings (the 'traffic profile').

Unfortunately, this can only be done manually via a configuration tool so, as part of the provisioning process, we check to see whether a traffic profile change may be required -- if one is not, fulfillment can continue without manual intervention, otherwise the fulfillment process takes a different route where the additional work for changing the traffic profile is performed manually by Service Provision.

Please note that although we use the term 'traffic profile', rest assured that this is not, and has absolutely nothing to do with, traffic shaping in any way, shape or form.

Hi all,

Nothing to be worried about.

It's just a step we have in the regrade process if we need to make an amendment if the service is delivered by LLU.

It's a question our systems ask for all regrade orders but in the majority of cases, the answer is 'no'.

Hope that clears things up?

Thanks,
Brian

I was almost getting a cold sweat reading that, like being on PlusNet a couple of years ago and someone "uncovering" the traffic management that apparently didn't exist... until it was found...

Glad to hear that it's nothing more than just a system thing
