Drop in Sync Speed

[link to this post]

Hi all,

for some reason my line sync speed seems to have dropped. Yesterday, my stats (according to my router) were:

DSL Status: UP
DSL Modulation Mode: GDMT
DSL Path Mode: FAST
Downstream Rate: 8128 Kbps
Upstream Rate: 448 Kbps
Downstream Margin: 11 db
Upstream Margin: 22 db
Downstream Line Attenuation: 24
Upstream Line Attenuation: 12

This evening, the stats (according to the same router) are:

DSL Status: UP
DSL Modulation Mode: GDMT
DSL Path Mode: INTERLEAVED
Downstream Rate: 7616 Kbps
Upstream Rate: 448 Kbps
Downstream Margin: 14 db
Upstream Margin: 20 db
Downstream Line Attenuation: 24
Upstream Line Attenuation: 12

I notice that the downstream rate has dropped from 8128kbps (which it has been since we moved to this place nearly three years ago) to 7616kbps and the Path Mode has changed from FAST to INTERLEAVED. Any ideas why?

Cheers,
Marc.

Interleave mode was probably set to AUTO and the BT Wholesale automated systems have seen enough errors to decide to switch interleaving on.

You can request that the interleave mode be set to OFF and interleaving removed from the line.

Thanks Andrew. In that case, I expect it's a result of our recent router problem - we recently brought a new W-N router and installed it last week only to find it locking up and disconnecting throughout most of last week.

Forgive the dense question, but would I need to contact BT about switching off the Interleaving, or can Zen do it? Alternatively, since our replacement -- and hopefully stable -- router should arrive next week, is it better to leave it and see if it regains the FAST modulation automatically?

Cheers,
Marc.

Hi I dont know if its better to leave your new router to wait and see if it regains fastpath not interleaved but i can say that its Zen who you contact if you want it changed. Not BT.
