Just started today, does it settle in speed after a few days

Hi all,

Just got activated with O2 today for Homephone and Premium Broadband. When I applied O2 did a line check and said I could expect at least 14 Mbps. At the moment I'm getting 9.7 Mbps, I seem to remember when I first started on Broadband (with Zen) it took about 6 days to settle into a top download speed. Where can I find the information on the line attenuation and signal to noise ratio?
